IN-PERSON PROGRAM

Celebrate Halloween with our spooky, slimy, mushroom pals! The autumn season is the height of mushroom time in our region, and we're ready to dive into the ecology and diversity of the fungal world! Join us for a beginner mushroom walk to learn how to get started with identifying groups of fungi and a few common species that can be found nearby. We'll discuss traits and textures of mushrooms and learn how they contribute as vital members of local ecosystems.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Accessibility notes: This program will move at a gentle-moderate pace with moderate inclines on some uneven surfaces, on paths, gravel, and dirt trails near the Stanley Park Pavilion, South Creek Trail, and Beaver Lake. Meeting Location: This program will meet near the #19 bus loop (located near Stanley Park Pavilion) and finish back at the Pavilion.

Terms and Conditions

(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED. Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – reduced fees are available for those with financial barriers.

(2) Cancellation policy - We offer partial refunds for program fees up to 7 days before the program. A 20% administration fee applies. Cancellations with less than the required notice are non-refundable. We do not refund fees for late or missed programs. Please request a refund by emailing publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca. You may also choose to support our public education programming by donating your registration fee.

(3) Weather – Our tours typically run rain or shine. Rarely, programs may be postponed or cancelled due extreme weather like high winds or extreme heat. We will alert you by email if the program needs to be rescheduled. If the program cannot be rescheduled, refunds will be offered with a 20% administration fee or you may choose to transfer your ticket to another program of the same value.

The land on which we gather is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples.
