Film Club: Mercy

Richmond Public Library's Film Club invites you to join us for a screening of the new action movie Mercy! Please note: popcorn will be served with the movie. This Film Club is for ages 18 and up About the Film: Timur Bekmambetov's sci-fi thriller Mercy is set in a near-future Los Angeles where capital justice has been handed over to an advanced artificial intelligence. The plot follows Detective Christopher Raven (Chris Pratt), who is suddenly accused of murdering his wife and strapped into a judgment chair. With an on-screen probability meter tracking his guilt in real time, he is given a strict countdown to prove his innocence. Hampered by a blackout period following a bar fight, he uses the city's digital network to race against the clock. Ultimately, the film plays out as a high-stakes, tense examination of algorithmic justice and procedural oversight.
