IN-PERSON PROGRAM

Do you feel the cool wind of autumn sweeping the shores, forests and wetlands of Stanley Park? Thousands of birds are migrating here from their summer breeding grounds to take advantage of relatively mild winter conditions and nutrient-rich shorelines. Discover the incredible variety and lives of local birds in our monthly birding program, Birds of a Feather! This month, join a birder for a casual fall birding walk as we appreciate the feathered friends around us during this season of transition, especially ducks and other winter residents returning to Stanley Park. No experience required, just bring your curiosity and take flight! Participants can borrow binoculars.

Meeting Location: Nature House on Lost Lagoon (located underneath the Lost Lagoon viewing platform near the intersection of Chilco and Alberni Streets): https://maps.app.goo.gl/MJVLWV2NEqGnF7U98

Accessibility notes: This program will move at a slow to moderate pace with minimal gentle inclines on some uneven surfaces (such as packed gravel and pavement) for up to 1.5 hours, mostly on flat terrain around Lost Lagoon (packed gravel and dirt). Terms and Conditions

(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED. Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – reduced fees are available for those with financial barriers.

(2) Cancellation policy - We offer partial refunds for program fees up to 7 days before the program. A 20% administration fee applies. Cancellations with less than the required notice are non-refundable. We do not refund fees for late or missed programs. Please request a refund by emailing publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca. You may also choose to support our public education programming by donating your registration fee.

(3) Weather – Our tours typically run rain or shine. Rarely, programs may be postponed or cancelled due extreme weather like high winds or extreme heat. We will alert you by email if the program needs to be rescheduled. If the program cannot be rescheduled, refunds will be offered with a 20% administration fee or you may choose to transfer your ticket to another program of the same value.

Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it "Stanley Park".
